Woot! It looks like we’re back on schedule!

The next alpha patch for Canyon of Desolation should be released around next Monday (9/6/10).

This patch has a couple of fixes for bugs you guys found (thanks!!! :) ) as well as the addition of a high score table and the ability to enhance your units.

It should be fun and even more addicting :)
Keep watching here, we’ll announce when it’s ready.

Embrace the Shadow!!

While we’re waiting for the next patch to come out (which due to reasons beyond our control is still at least a week away, probably two), I thought I’d share the new background story for Canyon of Desolation.

It’s a bit different than what we had originally and it wasn’t entirely prompted by creative reasons, but I think it’s a much better story and opens up greater opportunities for expansions as well as it meshing much tighter with the lore of Nightside.

So read on and let us know what you think …

Just wanted to let you all know that the next Alpha update for CoD will be delayed.

Both Fish and Llarlen have family/person things to deal with and won’t be able to keep to our original schedule.

Look for the next patch around the 22nd of August.

I’ll try to post next week with a sneak peak at what will be included :)

This being a day late is becoming a habit :)

The next version of the Alpha of Canyon of Desolation is ready for you to download. It’s available on our download page. You’ll need to be a registered user here on this site to download it.

We’ve been experimenting with several apps to create installers for Windows systems. The current installer was build with a different app than previous versions. So you may want to manually uninstall CoD before installing the new version.

Keep reading for the change notes (in no particular order):

Defending Units (aka towers)

I’ve mentioned that Canyon of Desolation won’t be your typical tower defense type game. One of the differences is that in CoD you don’t really build “towers” (at least not in the literal sense) .. instead you’ll be placing character units to defend the canyon from those pesky goody-goody invaders.

Granted, this is pretty much a cosmetic difference … we even refer to them as towers as their function is basically the same; to shoot and kill the march of the invaders .. but combine the character units with the ability to place and move them anywhere on the grid-less canyon walls, and you can experience a strategic level to game play you can’t find in other typical TD games.

Also each type of defending unit will be specialized, increasing the tactical and strategic elements of game play. The types and specialties are listed below.
